Chewton Cemetery...

It's been a while since I've been to a good cemetery. One with old, old graves, tall trees and lots of shade. Garth and I went to the Castlemaine Swap Meet today - photos soon to come - and on the way home, we stopped at the Chewton Cemetery...(warning - image heavy!)I wore my new coat. It was freezing!

    I enjoy walking through old historic grave yards, the storys and history on the head stones are facinating.

    Gorgeous coat, and I love the pin!

    I love reading the inscriptions on old gravestones... some of them can be incredibly "you're next" kind of morbid!

    My town has many old pioneer cemeteries in it and my friends and I used to wander them and read the headstones aloud. It was usually near Halloween when the subject of the dead particularly intrigued us. I still like to walk through them. I feel like they are so serene

    Cemetary tours are fascinating.. We have a great old cemetary here in Clunes, most from the goldrush, miners and young children.. Sad but interesting...

    I too love to wander in an old cemetery. Will have to check this one out next time I'm up Castlemaine way.
