Shabby Apple Dress Giveaway!
Hi!
Gatsby and Me has hit 300 followers! Thanks everyone! And...the lovely ladies at Shabby Apple have been so kind as to help me out with a dress giveaway.
If you haven't heard of the brand before, here's a bit of info:
"After years of not being able to find stylish dresses that covered enough skin to make you really feel comfortable (without wearing a tank top, cardigan or long slip), owners Emily and CK decided to do something about it.
They visited trade shows, marketplaces and designer studios only to discover the problem was not that department stores weren't buying the right dresses, but that designers weren't designing them.
Shabby Apple is proud to offer you fantastic dresses that allow you to look fabulous, without having to compromise anything else.
A return to what dresses were always meant to be — a one-piece outfit. No need to add anything...no tank tops, no cardigans, nothing (except accessories, of course!).
Shabby Apple also focuses on helping women worldwide. Through our charitable work with women throughout Asia and Africa, we are able to convert dress sales into lifestyle changes for women and children."
Great, right?
You can win a beautiful "Bette. D" dress (pictured above) just by leaving a comment on this post about your dream outing - wearing this dress of course! Click here for more info about the dress.
Entries close on the 12th of January, 2011 and anyone from anywhere in the world can enter.
Good luck!

ReplyDeleteThis dress would come to work with me for the day. We'd go to lunch with my favourite boy and sit in the park in the sunshine. Then after work we'd head out for some cocktails at one of the lovely bars on the river. We might even make it into the Valley for dinner afterwards.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, what a great giveaway - thanks! My ultimate dream outing would be to Tokyo, but while I can't afford that, dim sum, cocktails and a Hitchcock movie on the big screen would be my idea of heaven.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is so chic that it could take me anywhere in the world. From breakfast at tiffanys to checking out paris' boutiques, a high tea with the ladies who lunch at the savoy, london and then whisk me off to the magic of the opera at sydney opera house, dinner at el bulli, spain,a magical gondala ride in venice, then cocktails (with diamonds in) with a view at the ritz tokyo! Then home to bed - but perhaps I had been in my bed the whole time dreaming of this fabulous day in a fabulous frock!
ReplyDeleteThis dress would be perfect to wear at our wedding rehearsal in November. My dream outing though would be me and my fiance having a picnic in the snow. We both adore the snow and just wish that there was so on the Gold Coast!
ReplyDeleteWow beautiful dress! I think I would wear it to Barcelona in the summertime on my trip around all the beautiful museums and then off to Vienna afterwards to Belvedere Palace, looking at all my favourite artists and pretending I lived there. ( This is what hopefully will happen to me in the summer!) x
ReplyDeleteI would wear it when a mysterious stranger asks me to dinner in Paris. Not that this ever happens to me, but whatever. It sounds like a cool idea.

I love tania's suggestion of wearing the dress as an extra on Mad Men - definitely tops on my list.
ReplyDeleteI'd wear it to my next movie premiere. I'm an actress, costumer and set dresser on an independent 50s style B-movie here in Minnesota, and we do a 50s style movie premiere once the movie's done. Last year, I made my dress, and I'd love a new one for next year!
Dream outing would involve any that includes my 2 best girlfriends and possemates where we have an excuse to dress up AND get our picture on the party page of the local magazine.
ReplyDeleteOooh. Gorgeous dress.
ReplyDeleteI would wear this dress to a swanky eattery to start off the evening out with my boyfriend, then off to the theatre or the ballet (or to Cirque du Soleil, if they were in town at the right time)...
...Or maybe I would just wear this dress to go walk on the beach with my boyfriend and our dog.
I would wear this dress out on the town with my hubby sans little ones...I haven't been dancing in years so that would be a must!
ReplyDeleteDef. a girls night out. Most of my frinds and I are tomboys most of the time but every now and then we LOVE to get super dressed up and go out even if it's as something as simple as going to the movies
ReplyDeleteMe and this dress would would get all dolled up for an evening at the theater. We would of course go for dinner first and then have box seats at the ballet. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to walk the brooklyn bridge this spring with my sweetheart. I'd look great doing it in this dress!

My husband and I went to Massachusetts on our honeymoon 2 years ago and we have been saving ever since to go back to our favorite MA town, Marblehead. It was such a picturesque place with really friendly people. I will be graduating with a double Masters degree this December and I would love to celebrate by getting back to Marblehead the following summer, which is the perfect place to wear this dress.
ReplyDeleteMy dream outing in the Bette D dress would be to the symphony in London, with Gary Oldman as my date. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy dream outing would be an afternoon at an art gallery with my best friend, followed by dinner at a fancy restaurant with some cute artsy boys we picked up at the gallery :D
ReplyDeleteMy dream outing with this dress would be a day touring Japan. Now that's really a dream.
ReplyDeletemelodyj(at)gmail(dot)com
I so NEED a cute basic black dress for night's out on the town with my hubby. We have set a new goal to go on a date night every week and at least once a month to someplace really nice...like a play, a concert or a very nice restaurant. This dress would be perfect! :)
ReplyDeletebekahtowers(at)gmail(dot)com
I've always wanted to go to the opera and feel sophisticated (rather than like I'd raided Mommy's closet). What great charitable work, Shabby Apple!
ReplyDeleteThis dress would be perfect for a night out in San Francisco. First, we would stop for coffee at 4 Barrel Roasters on Valencia, then ride the cable cars to chinatown for dinner on a narrow fire-escape-turned-outdoor-balcony dining experience. We would end the night at one of the greatest speak-easy bars ledt in existence: the fabulous Bourbon & Branch. The dress would help me fit right in to their 1920s decor in the library or russel's room (which used to be the entrance to the authentic speak easy that used to be right below the current bar and disguised itself as a cigar shop). I would definitely be treated to the tour of all the rooms if I showed up in such a fine frock.

ooohhh dream outing would be a quick flight to Paris, a walk around the seine with a picnic...a beautiful candlelight dinner...a morning jaunt to the eiffel tower and a quick flight back to Edinburgh...all with the little black fabulous dress...no luggage to worry about! Fab giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a perfect dress to wear to my 21st! Elegant and classic, all the things I want to be!
ReplyDeleteThis would be the perfect dress for sipping cocktails in after a hard days shopping anywhere in the world. Hmmm...I'm definitely swaying towards Paris!
ReplyDeleteOh, its lovely!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to take a train ride with a special someone out to a city we'd never been to. Cities are so lovely and train rides are so pretty...
maraudingnonelle(at)yahoo(dot)com
Tres chic! And a full range of sizes!
ReplyDeleteThe "Bette D" dress accompanies you to work on a Friday with a performance review scheduled in the morning, you are bursting with confidence from looking so chic and yet appropriately dressed, so you negotiate that pay raise higher than expected and secretly thank "Bette D."
Later, your best girlfriend calls and invites you to lunch at your favorite sushi restaurant, where the chef at the sushi bar treats you both with an extra treat because you are such charming ladies.
After work, you rush home to pick up the dessert you baked from scratch the night before, on your way to a dinner party. At the dinner party you find yourself seated across from a handsome and oh-so-charming fellow whom you'd never heretofore seen and he falls instantly in love with this confident and beautiful woman in the black dress. He invites you to do a nauseatingly romantic walk through the garden in the moonlight and then you exchange numbers with your smart phones before you leave.
When you finally make it home, you lovingly hang your "Bette D" dress in its place, silently thanking the dress for your good fortune, but really, it was all you, the dress just made you feel feel confident enough to achieve it.
I would go out to a sophisticated ballet or play with my favorite beardy young man, then out for dancing and drinks, and I'd feel totally chic the whole time!
ReplyDeleteI'd give it to my little sister. Her house was flooded and she lost all her clothes!
ReplyDeleteamy.retals@hotmail.com

I would wear this charmful dress on days, on which I would like myself to simply probably feel and to put down a shining appearance.
ReplyDeleteBut completely particularly I would be allowed to carry to be pleased this dress, if my boyfriend makes a proposal for me (I hope that it will soon happen).

ReplyDeleteI am in love with this dress! It is just absolutely fabulous, if I were to wear this dress I would feel so confident. My best friend and I are planning a trip to Paris and this would be perfect to wear while sitting at a cafe watching the hot European men pass by! All I need is the perfect dress for the perfect trip!

As I am graduating from university in April (Fashion merchandising), I would wear this dress for my Thesis presentation, and then to the Jardin Tiki for drinks after.
ReplyDeleteNo Paris for me, after all I'm still a student...
Gorgeous! I could wear this dress a number of place, by my dream outing? Dressing it up and wearing it to my husband's Junior recital (basically the biggest performance he will do during his college career - he is a Music Education Major and plays the trumpet) at the end of this semester, followed by a nice dinner.

Back-to-School Giveaway!
Wow, I love all the great suggestions everyone has made - Paris and Mad Men seem to be a very common dream outing! In comparison, my dream outing is a little tamer - I would wear it to a night out at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant here in Melbourne. I have been wanting to go to this restaurant in ages, and as I cook every night for my hubby (I am a huge believer in home-cooked meals - very 1950's!), it would be great to have a night off! PS the dresses on Shabby Apple are fantastic and very reasonable! Vintage Suburbia x
ReplyDeleteA night out with an evening dinner and sight seeing in New York would be nice! :) Jessica
ReplyDeleteI would love to wander the streets of Paris with someone special, stop at a little cafe for lunch, and then go to a beautiful old theater to see an opera...all in this fabulous dress!
ReplyDeleteA wondrous date with my favourite boy. Going out for ice-cream, dancing at night, walking in the moonlight, a picnic in the park. This dress would be amazing for everything.
