Today Garth was nice enough to take some outfit photos for me. The cats were nice enough to pose. The weather was nice enough not to rain. My hair was nice enough to be cooperative.

I wore my 50's "ensemble" - a funny little dress with a short sleeve blue knit jumper with a matching peter pan collar. When I saw it in a vintage store in Salt Lake City, it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. The guy on the left is Tybalt, I rescued him from a shelter when he was a kitty. The lady on the right is Kitty Pryde, or Notail. She's another rescue from the local paper. And she has no tail. (So it's not just a clever name.)

I also got an exciting email, but I'll let you know more about that in the next post...

Autumn Clothes! (in Summer...)

It was a brown kind of day today.

Garth and I went out last night to see some friends (hence the "in car" shot!)
I wore my silk 40's dress with a peter pan collar. (The very best of collars in my opinion.)
Some guy told me "Your face belongs on the side of a plane."
Odd, yes, until he explained: "One of those old WW2 ones. Like in the olden days." Cool.

These are the two hats I brought back from the US. The white one reminds me of something Daisy Buchanan might wear, and the velvet one with the fur balls? I have no idea. It had fur balls and was velvet - how could I leave it sitting in the store?

Oh, and I finally found the glasses I've been meaning to show you.
Have a good weekend!

Marion's Things...

My friend Jake has a special grandmother. Marion is 69 this year and has the kind of house that seems full of odd junk, until you step back and realise it's all obsessively ordered. You can something up, turn it over and find a little sticker, detailing where and when she bought it, and how much it was.
She lives in Bundaberg, a small town that was built on the sugar cane industry and the other day, we painted her roof. She showed us these in return...her birthday cards!

They're so much nicer than the cards you get these days. I love the ones in the shape of your age.
In other news, I found some hats that I bought in America - hat post coming soon!

Keep Calm and Carry On...

Here's a dress that came all the way from Salt Lake City...

Garth thinks it's a 50's waitress uniform, but I love it.

Valita Milner...

While I was in the US, I collected some old photos. My favourite of all is this one:

The handwriting under the picture says "Valita Milner." I put her into google and...

She's number 10 from the left, in the second row, next to the teacher. It HAS to be her. The class photo was taken in 1940-41, and she's in "Junior High" so that would make her about 14 (?) in that working back, 14 years from 1941 is 1927. I'm guessing she's about 2 in the baby photo, so she was born in 1929-30.

I wonder what else she did. Or if she's alive now. She'd be 79 by now...It's funny, when I saw the baby photo, I thought she'd grow up to be beautiful, and by the looks of it, she's one of the cutest girls in her class, 12 years later! She went to Konawa High School, in Oklahoma..if anyone knows her, I'd love to know more about her,(and show her her old photos!)

Here in the Quiet Hills...

I got this list the other day, with all the historical cemeteries in our area on it. I'm slowly working through the list...This is Tallegalla Cemetery.

I wore my 50's plaid dress and new (new york)heels. Not at all practical for a tramp around a cemetery, but pretty nonetheless.

I'm planning on doing a post on all the cool stuff I found in the States, but lack the energy at the moment!

Ebay Auctions Up - Check 'em out...

So with all the great stuff I got in the US, I'm having a closet clean out...go see, you might find something you like...Here
Longer post later, promise!

Hot Rod Revolution, the Big Sur and San Fran!

Garth was super excited to go the the Hot Rod Revolution, a car show in Santa Rosa, so we went and met some great guys and girls. Shame about the epic heat, but a great day nonetheless. I wore my new 60's(?) dress.

Then it was onto San Francisco. We arrived just in the middle of what can best be described as a " leather appreciation" parade. As a result of the masses of male flesh on display, Garth has deciced that he is not that hairy after all! (ew.) On a more aesthetically pleasing note, we walked down/up Haight St and found a beautiful florist...

We came across this stream, such a beautiful spot, with wild berries growing everywhere and these old wooden chairs in the water. Reminded me of some party from the old days, where everyone would wear their finest and go down to the river...
This old lighthouse was also on the way. 150 years old, the sign said.

New York pics to come...

Cool or Fool?

I bought these glasses at an antique store. Only problem was, the lenses were strong - coke bottle thick and gave me headaches. So I popped them out and have been just wearing the frames. Cool or fool?

Also, we went to Portland, which is beautiful and amazing and I'd live there in a snap!

I met Melanie, the owner/operator of Icon Tattoo - they sell amazing jewellery as well as the ink. Hands down the best looking tattoo store ever! Check them out if you're in Portland.

Just look at that window display!

More to come...x
