It's on again and you're all invited...
This time next week, on Sunday, June 6th, Captains of Industry (my work) is holding a jumble sale. I've posted about this before, it's always great fun!
Here's a map for those in Melbourne...we'll be at the yellow dot from 12-5pm.
There will be fairy floss, the amazing photobooth and great food and coffee! We're having a bake off comp too! So, if you like 30's-60's vintage,(if you're reading this, I'm guessing you do) come along. Bring your buddies for an afternoon of great (and affordable) vintage shopping.
See you there!

Captains of Industry...
I work here.
It's really amazing.
You should come for a coffee if you're in Melbourne.
We're located at Level 1, 2 Somerset Place, just off Little Bourke St in the city.
We are a shoemaker,
a tailor,
a hairdresser,
a cafe,
a vintage store,
and an amazing space.
You should come. Bring the boys in your life - they'll love it too.
You can get cheap, simple, great quality food, like a pear and blue cheese roll,
or a tin mug of our home made ginger beer.
We're open Monday to Friday, 8-5pm and on Saturdays from 10-5pm.
So come!

Recent Finds...
Here are a few of my latest treasures...
Smelling Salts...
I'm going to try and clean these curlers up - maybe with some fine steel wool and use them to set my hair...
Fringe pins, glass beads and a standard issue metal army comb...
"Finest Watercolours"...and little wooden "Tulip" Lipsticks!
Pins! (Made in Britain - in case you didn't get the hint...)
and a Pelaco collar...
I made a dress today too - pictures coming soon!

Deadstock 40's Fabric Dress...
I liked the pattern of the last dress I made so much, I thought I'd make another.
This fabric is deadstock 40's wool, which is really nice and warm, yet still drapes nicely and is easy to sew.
I love the patriotic colours in the print, and it matched my hat perfectly!
I got the fabric at Job Warehouse, which is the creepiest fabric place EVER. It's run by two brothers, who are at least 65 years old and hasn't been cleaned in about 50 years. We're talking floor to ceiling shelves of fabric, with the lower layers rotting away to dust. It smells of mould and dank and they make up the prices as they go. Buttons are kept in a massive box and you have to sort through to find a matching set. Zips are thrown in a corner, on the floor. It's seriously gross. BUT - you can find great vintage fabric, and if the brothers like you, it's cheap.
The end.

Roller Disco Party!
Ben had a party at Rancho Deluxe. It was rad. Gemma took waaay better photos than me, because she is waaay more awesome. See more of her great stuff here...
There was roller limbo, a revolving cast of dj's, a bbq spit and potent punch, courtesy of Lupita, who has the amazing gift of hiding high alcohol content with fruity flavours...
So many lovely new friends!
Thanks Ben!
